About the lab

The lab is a part of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Guelph, located in the Summerlee Science Complex in Guelph, Ontario.

We are working on understanding the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration during aging.

We specialize in the biochemical and biophysical characterization of phospholipid bilayers (lipids and membrane proteins).

Within this general interest in membrane biology, we focus on elucidating the nanomechanics of membrane trafficking and fusion in mammalian cells and how defects in these processes lead to disease. 

The lab uses a multidisciplinary approach to answer biological questions with emphasis on recombinant protein purification and reconstitution, in combination with cell biology and fluorescence microscopy.
